About AARHS

Oh Radnor High, dear Radnor High
When student days are past,
The memory dear of bygone years,
We’ll cherish to the last . . .

A Little About Radnor High School

Radnor High School’s first graduating class—the Class of 1897—consisted of four students:  Annie B. Hughes, Laura M. Brown, Alvin P. Carter, and Thomas Crumley. The following summer, these four graduates invited the Class of 1898 to join them in forming the Alumni Association of Radnor High School.  125 years later, the Alumni Association is still going strong.

The AARHS is proud of Radnor High School’s rich history. Although the school has changed dramatically since its first principal, George H. Wilson, took the helm, much remains unchanged.  Today, Radnor continues to maintain high standards of academic achievement, the tradition and excitement of the Radnor-Lower Merion game lives on, and our graduates go on to make an impact on our world.

Among the Alumni Association’s “points of pride” are:

  • The Alumni Association of Radnor High School Scholarship.  This scholarship is awarded annually to a senior boy and a senior girl who plan to continue their studies at the college level.
  • The RHS Centennial Commemorative Wall.  Sitting atop a hill overlooking Prevost Field, the wall became a reality thanks to the generous contributions of those who purchased engraved bricks to honor or memorialize Radnor alumni.
  • The Alumni Room.  Spearheaded by the late George H. Brooke (’43), former AARHS president, and renovated by the RTSD Operations Department under the supervision of former Director of Operations Leo Bernabei, the Alumni Room is a treasure trove of memories and memorabilia.  Yearbooks dating back to 1911, plaques, trophies, photographs, scrapbooks, and more chronicle the history and traditions of our beloved alma mater.

We’ll sing once more those songs of yore,
Though far from you we stray;
And love for you will strong and true,
Cling ‘round our hearts for aye.
